New year, New cold sores!

Happy new year to everyone! May this new year bring nothing but success to you and your family!

It's always so weird when you're an international student experiencing New Years. Almost everyone is at a different place at a different time (It's crazy how the world works right? Woah time zones exist!) and you have to experience the "happy new year" stories over and over again despite not/already being in the new year. Maybe I'm just jealous about being at home for New Years, but at the same time I wouldn't have it any other way.

Also can you guess who had a cold sore that lasted through the last days of 2022 to the first day of 2023 and possibly longer???? Spoilers! It's me. Not only that but my body decided to hand me my period just a few days before the new year came so both my body and spirit are changing for the new year. I don't know whether that makes sense since I have a very limited knowledge on periods.

Speaking of periods: I had a conversation with my other friend about periods while in a taxi, and after we got out of a taxi she told me that she felt kind of awkward because she thought about whether the taxi driver could understand us or not. granted, her awkward feelings are totally valid, but it also made me think about how while our society is becoming more and more comfortable with speaking out about women's bodies, we still indulge in the same feelings of disgust or awkwardness that society has made us feel since we were young. maybe I'm reading to much into this and being too hypocritical since I still hide my pads in my sleeve when walking past my dad.

Anyways, while writing this post I was scrolling through Tik Tok and came across a girl lip syncing to the audio "Ye world full of lies runway" (I don't know why I felt the need to say the audio but I guess it adds to the Tik Tok, also ew Kanye) but the valid point that she made was that kids with strict parents become laid back parents and kids with laid back parents become strict parents which now that I think about it is kind of wrong???

I feel like in most instances, kids with strict parents will become laid back because they want their kids to experience the parenting that they wish they had gotten, but i don't think the same argument can be said for kids with laid back parents. Another aspect that you really have to take into is their background, for example, people with European parents might have more instances of laid back parenting because rebellious acts such as drinking are not seen as rebellious in European countries such as Germany. I don't know why I'm thinking this 10 second video through so much but I'm really interested, but let's move on. I could never have a podcast because I would most likely ramble about nothing for 2 hours, and if you're still reading I'm sorry but most of my blog posts are just word vomit.

Honestly with this new year new me thing, I might actually have the courage to make something like a Tik Tok account or an instagram bio mention of my blog because who cares what people think??? Not me! I'm the least insecure person ever, if people want to make fun of me then make fun of me.

That being said I also got rejected from my school newspaper so maybe my writing is total ass and people would not want to read this at all. Not only that, but I also accidentally wrote this whole blog post in lowercase, and yes I did go back and edit it all.
